PAST EVENTS, CEREMONIES and TRAININGS
Healing Sessions with Peruvian Paqos Don Juan Apaza Quispe & Karina Davalos
KARINA DAVALOS CONCHA
"I was born in Cusco, the capital of the empire of the Incas. My parents took me to Mollepata where I lived with my grandparents and first learned to speak Quechua and then Spanish. It was here I first connected with Apu Salkantay, playing with the stones, rivers, animals and nature. During harvest time my grandparents made offerings to Pachamama using coca kintus. I watched very carefully and soon was able to participate in the ceremonies.
I met Alberto Villoldo and worked with him for many years receiving shamanic training with the best Q’ero healers who are the descendants of the Incas. Don Manuel Quispe, Don Mariano Apaza, Don Umberto and Dona Bernardina all of whom were Kura Akullek (highest rank). My first initiation was received at Apu Ausangate and I created my mesa and continued my master apprenticeship in Puno and Cusco. During my training I had the revelation of the Apus which indicated that I was ready to perform ceremonies.
Today I have a deep sense of gratitude to the universe for having the ability to share and help others with this gift, a gift from the gods."
These events are entirely for the benefit of the indigenous people of Q'eros. Your participation and generous donations help to support many families who live in the Andean highlands. Urpichay Sonqo!
This is a blessed opportunity for ALL!
Private Healing Sessions will be available on the following days: July 30 - August 3, 2024
The Ayni Donation sliding scale is $140-$220.

Don Juan Apaza Quispe was born and still resides, in the village of Qollpacochu in the nation of Q'eros in the heart of the Andes. He is a highly respected Pampamesayok Paqo healer, ceremonialist, and leader of his community which is extremely remote and isolated at 14k-16k feet in elevation.
Don Juan Apaza Quispe is a powerful representative of one of the few remaining indigenous traditions still existing and maintaining the Ancient Way. His mission is to be an ambassador and bridge... bringing the preserved wisdom and healing power of the Q'eros to awaken our Yachay (Knowing) our Munay (Loving) and Llankay (Service).
Don Juan is a master of Pampamesayok healing techniques and practices that have been passed down for many generations of his Q'ero Ancestral Lineage. A one-hour healing session includes traditional energetic and spiritual cleansing, dense energy attachment clearing, soul retrieval and lifeforce rebuilding. This is a deep and powerful healing experience. Don Juan will be accompanied by Karina Davalos who will assist in interpreting from Quechua to English.

Andean Mystic Arts Training
with Juan Nunez del Prado & Ivan Nunez del Prado
In Tucson Arizona:
April 5-9, 2024 (3 Training Options)
We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to study with these legendary Andean Teachers.
A Foundation of Andean Mysticism
Andean mysticism is a path of personal power and conscious evolution. The paqos (Andean energy masters) from the high Andes have passed down this powerful yet graceful energy tradition over generations, and they have freely and lovingly shared this tradition with anyone who comes to them with an open heart.
Who is Juan Nunez del Prado?
In 1955, when Juan was 10, his anthropologist father Oscar Núñez del Prado was one of the leaders of an expedition which first encountered the Q’ero Runakuna in the mountains of the Andes.
This Divine encounter with Destiny affected Juan deeply, and led him, like both his parents, to study anthropology. He eventually became a professor at the University of Cusco. For over forty years Juan studied the prophecies and ways of the Inkas and Andean cosmology, following in his father’s footsteps.
Through his research, he met two fourth level Andean Masters, one being Don Benito Qoriwaman. Juan began studying with him in 1979. In 1987, Don Benito gave Juan the rite of Hatun Karpay, the great initiation, which is the fourth level of this tradition, in the lineage of Waskar Inka.
The tradition, as Juan interprets it, covers the teachings of two lineages, the Inkari and Waskar lineages, as passed on to Juan Nuñez del Prado from three celebrated masters of the last generation: don Benito Qoriwaman, don Andres Espinosa, and don Melchor Desa.
This upcoming training in Tucson Arizona will include three class options.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for creating happiness, relaxation and healing. But hands on healing is just its entrance. As we practice Reiki we begin to understand that it is meaningful to our purpose that we achieve a peaceful state of mind and through this peaceful state we connect to the Universal Energy bringing comfort and well-being to ourselves and others. The word Reiki is comprised of two separate Japanese words: Rei can mean Spirit/Soul or of the Heavens, Universal and Ki translates to Life Energy/Power or Spirit, Force. Therefore, Reiki is an organizing principle supporting all life processes. Seeing, knowing all as Itself.
Reiki Level 1 is taught as a two day intensive.
All of the information and techniques are covered including: Learning the history, how Reiki works, receiving level 1 attunement, self-healing techniques and standard treatment for others, the Original Reiki Ideals, the Three Pillars of Usui Reiki, the Five Reiki Objectives and much more.

Ignite Your Creative Fire
Do you have an idea that's been sitting on the back-burner for way too long?
Are you longing for the time, energy, support, and accountability to make your vision a reality?
Believe me, I get it!
I've been writing, creating, and producing workshops, courses, and events for over two decades and I totally understand the challenges (internal and external) involved in getting it all together and making it happen.
It's so easy to get stuck in doubt, uncertainty, and overwhelm.
Yet still... that dream persists. You know you have something special and unique to offer the world!
I want to help you bring that Sacred Vision into reality.

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported 6-week course designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. It was developed by Christopher Germer, PhD, a leader in the integration of mindfulness and psychotherapy (www.chrisgermer.com) and Kristin Neff, PhD, a pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion (www.Self-Compassion.org).
MSC combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional well-being. Mindfulness is the first step—turning with loving awareness toward difficult experience (thoughts, emotions, and sensations). Self-compassion comes next—bringing loving awareness to ourselves. Together, mindfulness and self-compassion comprise a state of warm, connected, presence during difficult moments in our lives.
Most of us feel compassion when a close friend is struggling. What would it be like to receive the same kindness and compassion that you give to others when you suffer, fail, or feel inadequate? All that’s required is a simple U-turn--including yourself in the circle of your compassion. Self-compassion is essentially a humble enterprise.
Self-compassion involves the capacity to soothe, comfort, and validate ourselves, as well as to protect, provide for and motivate ourselves, when things go wrong in our lives. It is learned, in part, by connecting with our natural compassion for others. Learning how to be self-compassionate also helps us sustain and expand our compassion for others.
Numerous research studies show that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, coping with life challenges, lower levels of anxiety and depression, healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and more satisfying personal relationships. It is an inner strength that enables us to be more fully human—more fully ourselves.
Fortunately, self-compassion can be learned by anyone.
In MSC Training you’ll learn to:
Practice mindfulness and self-compassion in daily life
Understand the science of self-compassion
Use self-compassion to live in accord with your values
Handle difficult emotions with greater ease
Motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism
Work with challenging relationships
Manage caregiver fatigue
Practice the art of savoring and self-appreciation
Teach simple self-compassion skills to others
MSC is designed for members of the general public. Meditation experience is not necessary to participate in MSC.
All are welcome! The program is based on the values of equity, diversity and inclusiveness.
Program activities include short talks, experiential exercises, meditation, group discussion, and home practices.
MSC is a journey—an adventure in self-discovery and self-kindness. Self-compassion has the paradoxical effect of both soothing our emotional distress as well as opening us to the pain that we may have been unconsciously holding inside, often for many years. Therefore, challenging emotions are likely to surface during the program, including past trauma. MSC teachers are committed to helping participants feel safe and comfortable during the course. However, participants agree at the outset that they will take primary responsibility for their emotional well-being.
MSC is therapeutic, but it’s not therapy. The emphasis of the program is on building the resources of mindfulness and self-compassion. MSC is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
Participants should also be aware that MSC is mindfulness-based compassion training. Mindfulness and compassion go hand-in-hand, but our main purpose is compassion training.
In a randomized, controlled study, MSC significantly increased self-compassion, compassion for others, mindfulness, and life satisfaction, as well as decreased depression, anxiety and stress. Read the full-text article. Improvements were linked to how much a person practiced in their daily lives. MSC participants are asked to practice mindfulness and self-compassion at home for up to ½ hour per day, and teachers guide and support participants in that endeavor.
Highly recommended while participating in the MSC course:
The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook by Kristin Neff and Chris Germer
It is also recommended, but not required, that participants read the following two books to get the most out of the training:
Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself by Kristin Neff
The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion by Christopher Germer

The Spirit of Money Workshop :
Healing & Transforming Your Financial Reality
What is your current relationship with Money and your Financial Reality? What deeply held belief patterns do you experience around Money and Resource? Is it always a struggle? Does it seem to come and go in flood and drought? Are you always racing and chasing the tail of money? Do you feel the weight and crush of debt and owing more than you can ever pay?
How do you understand, appreciate and honor the Spirit of Money in a time when it's so un-tethered from anything tangible or seemingly real? How has the Spirit of Money evolved through your own Ancestral and Karmic timelines? What do you need to transform and heal between yourself and the Spirit of Money?
How can you more clearly communicate with the Spirit of Money regarding your needs and desires? How can you become an even greater steward of the Sacred powers of Money and Resource?
How do you awaken and cultivate your natural co-creative capacity to responsibly manage the streams of ebb and flow of financial energy? What does Sufficiency and Sustainability look and feel like in your life?
You are invited to explore these questions, find answers, and transform your relationship with your resources during the Spirit of Money Workshop.
In this six-week online* workshop and ceremony you will engage powerful energetic tools to open, explore, clear and transform your Ancestral, Karmic and Present-time limiting beliefs about Money and Resource.
You will establish new empowered connections to the true origin point of Earthly Resource and level-up your awareness of the unique relationship you have with the Spirit of Money. You will open and clear the lines of communication with the Spirit of Money and practice ways of honoring the Sacredness of this relationship.
In sacred ceremony you "get right" making Ayni, with yourself, your Ancestors, Pachamama, and your spirit helpers.
By engaging in this sacred ceremonial work, we understand the path to healing and transforming the Spirit of Money on a Global Level is through our own personal journey of conscious evolution. We must dream new ways of relating to Money in our own lives as leading-edge way-showers for the New Earth World being birthed at this time.
This healing workshop and ceremony is guided live online by Celia Blackwood.
Compassionately offered by heart-guided sliding-scale, $60 - $120.

Sitting At The Gates
Honoring Grief in 5 Parts:
Abandonment, Disappointment, Rejection, Overwhelm & Forgetting
"Embrace your grief, for there your soul will grow." ~ Carl Jung
How do we learn to carry our grief and not collapse or turn away in denial?
How do we come to see grief as vital and necessary and not something only to be endured?
In essence, we are asked to take up an apprenticeship with sorrow.
An approach of reverence offers us the chance to learn a more skillful pattern of relating with grief.
When we come to our grief with reverence, we find ourselves in right relationship with sorrow, neither too far away or too close. We have entered into an ongoing conversation with this difficult, holy visitor.
Learning we can be with our grief, holding it softly and warmly, is the first task in our apprenticeship.
This will be a sacred time and space for honoring, embracing, turning toward the experiences of loss and grief.
Compassionate practices include, meditation, journeywork, ceremony, ritual, sharing, connecting, healing, transforming.
The 5 Gates of Grief
The First Gate: Everything We Love, We Will Lose - The Grief of Abandonment
The Second Gate: The Places That Have Not Known Love - The Grief of Rejection
The Third Gate: The Sorrows of the World - The Grief of Overwhelm
The Fourth Gate: What We Expected and Did Not Receive - The Grief of Disappointment
The Fifth Gate: Ancestral Sorrows - The Grief of Forgetting
This ceremonial series is based on the work of Francis Weller.

Andean Medicine Wheel - Sioux City, Iowa
Mesachakuy is the process of becoming a Mesa Carrier in the Andean Way and is a powerful inner journey of healing, awakening and transformation. It is a journey that traces a spiral path with no beginning and no end. It aligns with the Tawantinsuyu - the coordinates of the four directions - and is held by the sacred energies of the Heavens and Earth. It is a powerful personal journey of remembering our true nature, of growing into true spiritual adulthood, and of awakening our true destinies. It is a journey that requires courage and heart.
We are pleased to present this program in Sioux City, Iowa. It consists of four sessions, or directions, spread over a 12-month period of practice and integration. Each direction of the medicine wheel builds on the work of the previous session. A structure of support and guidance is provided between directions. Come take this journey with a group of like-minded people - and become friends for life!
Each session includes teaching segments, demonstrations, experiential exercises, shamanic journeys, ceremonies and time for processing. A two-month period of personal practice and integration follows, during which the participant has the opportunity to work one-on-one with the course instructor to anchor the teachings and practices into their life.

Beginning The Journey: An Introduction to Shamanic Journeywork
Sunday, Feb 25th (10am-2pm)
The Harmony Wasi
@ Las Casitas Contentas
SW Corner of Water St & Treat Ave
Contact Me to RSVP
This sacred teaching circle is open to anyone interested, curious, inexperienced or brand new to the idea and concept of the shamanic journey. It is open to anyone who has experienced the shamanic journey and would like to strengthen their foundational understanding and practice of journeywork.
We will discuss the history and purpose of the shamanic journey and investigate the spiritual science of how and why the shamanic journey works the way it does. We will begin at the beginning... with simple exercises to become familiar with the ways of journey and to discover our own unique and individual ways of perception and processing. We will discuss the importance of power and how to journey safely and will begin the empowering creation of our own personal and unique map of the world of spirit.
In this course we will explore the 3 Worlds; the Middle, Lower and Upper Worlds, and call upon and begin connecting with our spirit helpers and power animal allies. The intention for this circle is for each person to leave with a deeper and greater understanding of their own ways of perceiving the world and a stronger connection to powerful helpers who can support and encourage growth in all areas of life.
This teaching circle is offered for $40 suggested donation. This is a suggested amount... please offer what you can for the continued support of the Harmony Hut.

Winter Solstice Ceremony
Tuesday, December 19th
7pm - 9pm
The Harmony Wasi
2722 E Water St.
2017: An Intense and Powerful Year of Awakening and Change.
It has been a year of breaking down of long-established frameworks alongside a welling up of what has been deeply hidden wounding on all levels. Social, cultural, political, economic, environmental... everything is up for the winds of transformation and renewal. Pachamama doing her part with deep quakes, powerful storms, raging fires, rising waters.
Through all of this, YOU have been there, witnessing it all. You have seen and heard and felt the destruction of wind and rain and fire. Even if not first-hand, the effect of our interconnected and internetted reality means you are still witness to these events. Your heart and mind experience the images and sounds and feelings just the same as if you were there in the physical.
How many times have you seen the same images and videos replayed? The pop! pop! pop! of another mass shooting incident. The heartbreaking accounts of survivors and first responders. The frustration of the question that never gets fully answered: WHY?
How many times have you cringed at the sound of the voices of politicians? Felt anger boil? Despair and hopelessness?
How many on your friend's list have lost everything this year?
Let's face it: 2017 has been a traumatic year for all of us. We have been through the wringer. Hopefully, we've managed to stay relatively well and balanced for most of it... but really... it's been tough and we have carried it.
This is why we need CEREMONY. A designated time and space to step out of "ordinary" and engage "extraordinary." An opportunity to commune with the Highest Order of Creation.
A chance to offer up for liberation our heaviest burdens, grief, sorrow, despair, doubt, hopelessness. To honor and acknowledge all we have done this year to process the witnessing of these powerful and challenging times of change.
The gift and reward of this energetic exchange is liberation and renewal. The clarity, strength, and centeredness to dream forward... to cultivate greater awareness of who we truly are and why we are here.
This Winter Solstice Ceremony will begin at 7pm with the burning of Grief, Grievance and Guilt. (If you would like to prepare ahead... begin writing down a list of the moments of the past year you most grieve about or feel anger or resentment over. These will be offered to the fire and do not need to be shared with others so feel free to dig deep.) During the second part of the ceremony we will journey and make a despacho offering to Pachamama for Soul Parts we may have lost during the year, inviting the retrieval of our Light as the Sun begins to return with Solstice. We will offer prayers for the continued healing and awakening of ourselves and others in the year ahead. We give deep gratitude for blessings received and on the way! We will close the ceremony around the fire by 9pm.
This ceremony is open to all.
Donations for this Winter Solstice Ceremony will be offered to the Q'eros families in Peru.

Sacred Teachings and Ceremonies of the High Andes
Join Dona Asunta Quispe and Karina Davalos Concha for the Sacred Teachings and Ceremonies of the Q'ero people of Peru.
ASUNTA Q'UISPE YAPURA
"I was born in Q’eros Paucartambo, the daughter of Don Manuel Quispe Apaza. I speak Quechua and during my early years I saw many ceremonies performed by my father. At age 10, I began to participate and assist in ceremonies of healing for people, potato crops, alpacas and llamas and was beginning my path of service which pleased me greatly. The Apus (mountains) and Pachamama (Mother Earth) were giving me a direction for the future.
After another 25 years of integrating the life of a healer, my father transmitted my first sacred initiation known as Hatun Karpay at the holy and mighty mountain of Apu Huaman Lipa. My second Hatun Karpay was received in the “Lord of Qoylloriti” Apu Sinaccara and was transmitted by my Uncle Bernabe Apaza Quispe. These powerful ceremonies began to give me a greater connection for receiving messages from the Apus, Pachamama and the Universe. My third Hatun Karpay was transmitted by my mother, Dona Agustina Chura Quispe at Apu Huaman Lipa. This was a very special experience to receive the immense energy and power of Mother Earth."
I deeply appreciate my life and the ability to share this spiritual path with all my brothers and sisters around the world."

All Souls' Day - Psychopomp Ceremony
Thursday, November 2nd at 6pm
The Harmony Wasi
2722 E. Water Street
Contact Me to RSVP
In honor of the All Souls holiday... we will gather with the intention to help the soul of a friend or loved one who has passed on and may be having difficulty moving to the higher planes of the afterlife.
A psychopomp is a guide, whose primary function is to escort souls to the afterlife, but they can also serve as guides through the various transitions of life. When people are unprepared to face death, they often need additional assistance. They may not be aware of the fact that beings are waiting on the other side to help them, or they may be too preoccupied or anxious to acknowledge such assistance. This can leave people lost and confused, or can create a situation where they may not even know they are dead, and instead attempt to continue on with their human existence instead of crossing over. This is most often the case when people have died in a sudden accident, committed suicide, died under heavy medication/overdose or where addictions may be involved, but it is increasingly also the case with the growing number of people who are emotionally unprepared to face their own death. This is where the modern-day psychopomp plays an active role by helping the deceased find their way. Much healing can be done even after death and powerful transformations can occur for the deceased and their loved ones.
Assisting a lost soul in the afterlife to heal and move forward on their journey is an incredibly touching and rewarding experience. It is such a gift to give your loved one. If you know someone who left this world in one of the circumstances listed above... if you sense their spirit around you... or if you have recurrent dreams about them... consider joining us.
This ceremony will be held in sacred space, with traditional healing techniques and the highest intent. Each participant will be asked to hold confidentiality and to become sacred witnesses for one another. This work can be very emotional and powerfully life-changing. Please come with the understanding that you will be of service to one another and to the souls of the departed. There WILL BE homework!
Due to the nature of psychopomp work, it is highly recommended that you are comfortable and experienced in shamanic journeying and can hold clear, focused intent for an extended period of time. This ceremony will be limited to 10 participants. If you RSVP and then realize you will not be able to attend... PLEASE change your RSVP as soon as possible to allow someone else the opportunity. Expect this ceremony to last several hours and plan to stay for the entire time.
Celia Blackwood will be your guide for the evening. She has been initiated and trained in psychopomp practices through the Andean Inca tradition of the Q'ero from the high mountains of Peru. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Celia by phone (520.360.9966) or email ([email protected]). This work can also be done in private session at another time by request.
This ceremony is offered for a minimum $25 suggested donation. Please be generous considering the nature of the work we will be doing together. Your donations help make it possible to continue providing services like this in the future! Of course, no one will be turned away due to financial constraints.

Andean Sacred Arts Training (Part 1)
Saturday & Sunday, May 14-15, 2016
9:30am-5pm
The Harmony Wasi
2722 E Water Street
Explore the ancient teachings of the Andes and experience first hand the world of 'living energies.' During this workshop we will explore an overview of the Andean Spiritual Cosmology and the sacred mysteries of energy and form. Learn practical tools for freeing "heavy" energy from the body and how to transform energies that may lead to illness, depression and conflict to create health and well-being. Learn exercises to increase, develop and enhance personal power. Cultivate a deeper sense of "who you truly are and why you are here."
This is an experiential workshop where you will be outside both days activating your body's energy centers (or eyes of energy called 'nawis') using the natural elements of sun, wind, water and earth.
Experience ancient rituals and blessings performed by the Inkas centuries ago. In beautiful and moving interactive exercises and ceremonies participants will experience their personal energy field and that of the group. They will begin to "see" and "feel" the dynamics of energy in relationships and ways to trigger the expansion of individual and group growth. Learn to harmonize the human energy field, with the elements and the forces of nature, leading to a high state of personal energy, happiness, and connection to life.
Part 1 is the right-side work, called paña. This is an introduction to core symbols, signs, spirits, practices and techniques of the tradition. Paña focuses primarily on the mystical work of the lineage of don Benito Qoriwaman and involves mastering your energy body and working the energies outside of your personal energy bubble. It also focuses on core techniques for cleansing your bubble of heavy energy and empowering it with refined energy. This is the work of consciously engaging energy and making interchanges with the cosmos of living energies. It teaches you to perceive and work with your own energy and to make interchanges with nature, spirit beings, and other people, including working to heal or empower others. You also learn about the misha, the personal power bundle; and the haway or despacho, the primary nature offering that is the most important “teacher” of ayni/reciprocity in the tradition. You will receive 2 karpays - energetic initiations that will assist in supporting and empowering your personal growth.
The right side of the Inka path is characterized by its structured nature and order and is concerned with knowledge of the living energy of the universe and our place in it. The objective of these first two days is to learn techniques that will help participants to harmonize their relationships with themselves, their fellow human beings, their surroundings, nature - namely their whole life.
A firm grounding in sensing, moving and working with your own energy and the energies of the cosmos is necessary to advance to the work of the next two trainings. The formal training follows a three-part track. You must complete one course before taking the next. Part 2 and Part 3 will be scheduled with input from the group that is formed through this first class.
Educational Investment: $150
Payment plans and scholarships available.

During this workshop we will explore an overview of the Andean Spiritual Cosmology and the sacred mysteries of energy and form.

Dying Consciously: The Greatest Journey
Saturday, September 5th (9am-6pm)
Sunday, September 6th (9am-4:30pm)
Tucson AZ (location given upon registration)
Do you have a friend or relative who is terminally ill?
Are your parents elderly and facing the inevitable?
Has a loved one recently died and left you feeling lost and confused?
Are you a hospice or end-of-life care giver seeking to expand your skills?
Do you avoid thinking about death or dying?
Dying Consciously: The Greatest Journey workshop addresses these - and much more.
Death is a topic that most people avoid, yet it is something we all have in common. This two day workshop is for learning the shamanic perspective of death and dying: nothing really dies, it simply changes form. The message of The Greatest Journey is that we can come to the end of life with grace, full of light. This workshop is designed for all persons involved in the dying process: individuals, family members, hospice care givers, and friends.
Death is the inevitable outcome of every life and does not represent a tragedy or failure—a lost battle with disease. Death represents the spirit breaking free of its physical limitations and embarking upon the next phase of existence. Death is a sacred rite of passage, no matter how sad we might feel about losing the physical presence of someone we love.
Instinctively, we know this. Death is a transition, just as birth is.
In Dying Consciously: The Greatest Journey, you’ll learn the shamanic perspective of death—compatible with all spiritual traditions—which is that the soul or spirit of a person does not die; it simply leaves the body.
Through a series of experiential exercises, participants learn essential skills for assisting a dying person through their dying process. These are based on the great death rites of the shamanic traditions, to bring reconciliation and peace to the person dying and their loved ones.
Presented in easy to follow steps.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
The Luminous Energy Field: Understanding the changes that take place in this reservoir of vital life force as an individual prepares for the Great Journey home.
Great Life Review: Helping the dying to review their lives and reconcile unfinished business while still alive eases the review that takes place in the spirit realm after death.
Cleansing the Chakras: Clearing the energy centers of the body so that accumulated traumas and toxins do not keep the luminous body earthbound.
Great Death Spiral: Rites for releasing the luminous body from the physical body immediately after death.

Q'ero Elder Dona Asunta Quispe: Sacred Teachings and Ceremonies of the High Andes
Join Dona Asunta Quispe and Karina Davalos Concha for the Sacred Teachings and Ceremonies of the Q'ero people of Peru.

The Inka Medicine Wheel Journey 2014 - Shamanic Training and Initiation
South - Way of The Hero - May 15-18, 2014
West - Way of The Luminous Warrior - July 31-Aug 3, 2014
North - Way of The Sage - October 9-12, 2014
East - Way of The Seer - January 8-11, 2015
All sessions will be held in the Tucson area.
The Inka Medicine Wheel is a magical one-year journey of transformation to becoming a modern-day shaman and full mesa carrier in the tradition of the high Andes of Peru.
The Inka Medicine Wheel represents an ancient four-fold path for transformation: shed attachment to the past that restrains us; confront and overcome fears of the future and death that paralyze us; access a sea of consciousness as vast as time itself; then re-create our unique destinies with beauty, power and grace. We transform our deepest wounds into sources of strength and compassion, which become the basis of our power to heal.
The Medicine Wheel is an exploration into the nature of time, energy and the essential self, the mystery teachings that can be known but not told. The Indigenous traditions have utilized the Medicine wheel for tens of thousands of years as a map for human consciousness. Through this personal growth and healing track, you are provided with the framework in which you can reflect upon the state of your inner world, clear your mind and heal from trauma. The journey will open you to experience the inner peace, vast insight, and extraordinary creativity that has always been within you.
Facilitated by Special Guest: Tomas Bostrom from Ojai, California
Tomas' path as an energy healer and teacher was revealed when he journeyed to Peru and traveled through the Sacred Valley with the Q’ero shamans. It was there he met his mentor, Dr. Alberto Villoldo. He has since traveled to Chile to work directly with Dr. Villoldo and Marcela Lobos.
Tomas is a full mesa carrier in the lineage of the Laika and a graduate of the Healing the Light Body School. He served as a Four Winds Light Body staff teacher prior to becoming accredited to teach the Inka Medicine Wheel. He is certified by the Institute of Energy Medicine to teach Dying Consciously: The Greatest Journey, and conducts workshops of that program.
Hosted by: Celia Blackwood
Celia has been initiated into the ancient Inca lineage of Earthkeepers and Lightbody healers directly transmitted by the Q'ero (Laika) shamans from the high Andes in Peru. The Q'ero are known as "Children of the Sun" and have been the guardians of ancient knowledge of the inner worlds and the energetic realms for many hundreds, even thousands, of years.

Awakening the Courageous Heart with Christina Pratt
Friday, February 28 - Sunday, March 2
Location TBA
$199
Now more than ever in our lives doing what is right and what is needed requires great courage of heart. While we feel that we move from the heart, in truth most of us move from one chamber, the chamber of the heart we are most comfortable in. And in time we burn it out. The heart actually has four chambers, which together nourish and sustain each other. When in balance each chamber gives us access to one of the four powers of the heart: Vision, Wisdom, Power, and Love.
The bottom-line is this: we function in the chamber of the heart we are most comfortable in, avoid one other chamber like the plague, and are pretty much just fair to midland in the other two. This is not all that we have to bring to the world, and yet for most it is “normal” and “good enough”. But its not enough; it’s not why we are here. We gather in these two weekends to use shamanic skills, ritual, and ceremony to reawaken not just the intelligence and courage of the heart, but also the full powers of the heart—Love, Wisdom, Vision, and True Power.
The shaman's heart is an awakened heart. The path the shaman walks to free the heart offers a metaphor for each of us to find the courage to heal our broken heartedness and step into spiritual adulthood. "Contemporary life can break your heart on any day," explains Christina. "And from that wreckage most of us learn to stand in our own way, habitually, practically, and fearfully rationalizing why we remain disengaged from our heart and the hearts of others."
What the shaman knows is that while the broken heart is real, the story that we wrap around it is not. If we have the courage to unwrap the story and feel again, we return to reality. In reality the heart contains its own medicine to heal. This work is the transformational work of awakening all four chambers of the courageous heart. Please join us as we explore how to engage the medicine of the heart to heal and allow the energies of the heart to flow with passion in our lives.
Listen to Christina talking about the Awakened Heart on Why Shamanism Now.
About Christina Pratt… Shamanic teacher and author, Christina is a skilled shamanic healer who weaves her authentic shamanic experience, extensive training, and experience with shamans from Ecuador, Nepal, Tibet, and Africa into her contemporary practice. - This is an excellent group for this work, diverse and sharing a range of shamanic skill.
- There will be transformational heart work initiated in the first weekend, small group follow through, and culmination in the final weekend.
- And, yes, both parts are required.

Honoring the Spirit of Corn: Ceremony & Despacho
Saturday, November 9th 4pm-8:30pm
The Harmony Hut
2004 E Spring Street
Corn has been a sacred plant ally of American peoples for thousands of years. It provided food, sacred relationship with the divine, and with the land. It was the base of cultures of the southwest especially.
The spirit of Corn has requested to be honored again this year, as we draw closer to the end of harvest season, and to our day of thanksgiving, we can honor Corn, and its many gifts and teachings again. The ceremony last year was so beautiful, and offerings carried to a sacred place in the Zuni land.
Sadly in our modern culture- the Corn plant has been abused, gentically modified, disrespected, and turned into all sorts of products that are not sacred, life supporting or healthy.
Why this disconnect? Was it an attempt to divorce native cultures from their sacred life? From their food source? From their homelands? How does this effect us today?
This plant is still considered food- but is in no way given the sacred respect it is due. What is your relationship to corn? What would you like to bring back into your relationship with corn? What can you offer to the spirit of corn? How can we heal our relationship with this sacred and important food and plant ally?
Join herbalist Darcey Blue to journey to the spirit of the Corn Mother- Life Giver, Sacred Ally, Plant Medicine- and learn what the spirit of Corn wishes to share with us now, in this time, and how we can reclaim our sacred relationship with corn, with the land, and with ourselves. Celia Blackwood will offer a despacho, a beautiful mandala gift creation, to honor & heal the spirit of corn with us.
It is of utmost importance for us resancitify and respect our Sacred Medicine Plants in a new way in the changing times. Corn has much to offer us, and has much to ask of us. Are you willing to work with the spirit of corn to transform our relationship with this sacred plant?
Please bring an item made of or representing corn for our community altar. These should be sacred, respectful and honoring of the Corn Spirit. Foods made of corn, corn meal, corn images are all acceptable. Food items will be placed on the altar to be sanctified by our work, and then consumed at the end of our ceremony.
You may also wish to bring an offering for the Spirit of Corn Mother- that you would be willing to part with. These offerings will be gathered on the Altar during our work together, and then taken to the Earth as an offering to the Spirit of Corn.
This ceremony is offered for a donation - ($10-$20) at The Harmony Hut.

Writing on Journey
Tuesdays at 11am, February-March 2012
The Power of 9

This will be an ongoing group exploration and will focus on using the shamanic journey for topics such as character development, story and plot inspiration, scene and setting development, poetry and short story inspiration, dissolving writers block, soul-centered journaling, and much more! We will journey to meet and develop relationships with our own personal writing spirit guides who can offer insight and encouragement in our process. This will be an experiential and open format. All are welcome regardless of writing skill or experience.
Suggested donation of $5.

Journey Circle: Our Great Star Being - Honoring our Sun
Sunday, January 29th 2012 at 11:00am
Institute for the Shamanic Arts
35 E Toole Avenue, Tucson AZ
For this Shamanic Journey circle, we will focus on our home Great Star Being, Our Sun.
The Ancients had an intimate relationship with the sun. They maintained a personal and collective connection and communication with the sun. In these times, where humanity receives so much of its information and energy from sources other than the sun, it is essential that we begin to remember and honor our connections to the Sun once again. Join us as we journey with the Sun.
Our Great Star Being - the Sun - is accelerating our evolutionary process by sending us necessary information and codes through an increase in solar flare activity. A solar flare is a magnetic storm on the Sun which appears to be a very bright spot and a gaseous surface eruption. Solar flares release huge amounts of high-energy particles and gases that are tremendously hot. They are ejected thousands of miles from the surface of the Sun.
There appears to be a direct connection between the Sun’s solar storms and human biological effect especially after an "M" class solar flare. The conduit which facilitates the charged particles from the Sun to human disturbance is the very same conduit which steers Earth’s weather through the Magnetic Field on Earth, and also through the magnetic fields around humans.
The solar flares and photon waves are changing the fabric of our physical reality as they have a powerful effect on our physical cellular level, causing our cellular memories to awaken and clear. We often experience this as the body heating up in the form of “hot flashes.” Our lower emotions are low frequency energy stored in our cells from past experiences and traumas that we have encountered and never processed —so they become stored as cellular memories. Photon energy is a much higher frequency energy that pulls up the lower emotional frequency so it can calibrate to the higher frequency.... thus we find ourselves releasing these lower emotions of sadness and grief without knowing why. The body may process these higher frequencies through intense emotions, dreams, body pain, flu-like symptoms, nausea, anxiety, itchy skin, headaches etc. These spells will last for about twenty minutes and we are left wondering where these feelings came from out of the blue. The elements of our blueprint are interfaced in the cellular consciousness and when the blueprint is amplified through photon energies various elements of the blueprint leak into your consciousness and we begin to remember our soul’s purpose. We are pulled to make changes in our life but we don’t really realize why.
This intensification of energies can simultaneously trigger inspired action and profound enlightenment with inner knowing about things which we were not privy to in the past. Many are receiving downloads of information to help them in dream state at night. They are shown patterns of behavior that they need to change, or beliefs that no longer connect with who they are today. Some of the dreams are about things that will happen in the future. These downloads are forms of Soul communication that we need to pay attention to.
The Earth is reaching the end of a very long cycle. The frequency of the planet and within our bodies is rising from the recent solar flare activity and photon energy. The Harmonic frequency of the planet known in the scientific community as the Schumann Cavity Resonance rises periodically. The last time this occurred was 13,000 years ago and it is now occurring again. The current rise in frequency began in 1986 of our calendar and this represents a very significant and important time both for this planet and all lives that live upon it. In such times evolution comes very quickly. We are currently living in just such a time. The Earth is a conscious living being with complete awareness of itself. It is evolving and the human race is evolving along with it. And it is just not localized to this Earth, or to the solar system, or even to this galaxy, it is universal because it is the energy all is made from. It is consciousness itself that is evolving. Consciousness is on the verge of creating an entirely new reality and new human.
According to the prophecies of the Maya, the Hopi and the Inka, we're at a turning point in human history, a period of great turmoil and upheaval in which a new species of human will give birth to itself. We're going to take a quantum leap into what we are becoming, moving from Homo sapiens to Homo luminous – that is, beings with the ability to perceive the vibration and light that make up the physical world at a much higher level. For the first time, all of humanity will be able to evolve not between generations, but within a generation, which contradicts our beliefs about how evolution works. We'll take a biological quantum leap within our own lifetimes; and the physical, emotional and spiritual traits we acquire will be passed on to our children and our children's children.
In this circle there will be two shamanic journeys. With rattle and drum we shall connect with our Sun for the messages it wants us to know most right now.
Your host for this journey circle will be Celia Blackwood.
This circle will close by 1:30pm and is offered by Spirit Guided Donation. Your donations help keep ISA going, thank you!

Peruvian Ayni Despacho Ceremony
Sunday, August 21st 6:30pm
Solar Culture's Arches Building - Galactic Center
35 E Toole Ave - Tucson
In these times of such pervasive change, as 2012 approaches, it can seem that the world is out of balance. Structures and paradigms on which we have relied heavily are breaking down so that new holistic structures can be birthed. It is a time of great opportunity to create balance in our lives through ceremonies such as the ayni despacho.
For hundreds of years, the Laika, high shaman or wisdom-keepers from the Q’ero lineage of Peru, have used the ayni despacho ceremony. Central to their cosmology is the understanding that the universe is benign, and only seems predatory when we are out of balance. They believe that the world mirrors back our own state of ayni or right relationship. Coming back into ayni, allows the Universe to work on our behalf once again, restoring the flow of synchronicity.
When we work in ceremony such as the ayni despacho, we work at the level of the soul. A despacho is similar to a mandala or sacred creation in that it holds symbolic elements and the prayers of the participants. As the shamans add the elements to the despacho, the vibration of the participants and the room raises. The despacho becomes a living prayer that brings energy shifts and healing.
In shamanic tradition, an ayni despacho is done with the intention to bring oneself and one’s community into right relationship with the natural world. It creates a sense of union, harmony and reciprocity with nature.
For the ayni despacho, the shaman begins with a large piece of white paper that will serve as a ‘wrapping’ for all of the offerings. All ingredients have significance and each receives prayer before being placed on the paper. Coca leaves or bay leaves are used to hold prayers. Sugar and various sweets bring sweetness and love to the prayers. Corn and other grains are used to nourish participants and the Pachamama (the Earth). Once all ingredients have been added, the shaman carefully folds the bundle into the shape of a square ‘gift’ and ties it.
After a despacho is prepared, the shaman uses it to cleanse the energy body of each participant. To close the ceremony, the despacho is placed in a ceremonial fire.
This ceremony is open to anyone in the Tucson community who wishes to create balance and right-relationship personally, locally and globally. In the spirit of reciprocity and appropriate energy exchange, there is a suggested donation of $10 per person. All supplies will be provided. Please arrive at 6:30. Doors will close and ceremony will begin promptly at 7pm.
This will be a sacred ceremony and those attending should be prepared for powerful personal change to occur as a result.
Sponsored by Heartstone Healing Arts, The Institute of Shamanic Arts and Solar Culture Gallery.
